I'm gonna plug here one phenomenal icon maker. bases_by_maggie is absolutely amazing. You have to friend her journal to see the icons and bases she has, but it's well worth it. I just picked up 9 more icons that are wonderful. Go take a peek at my listed icons and then go take a look at Maggie's icons.

Ok, I started going through www.usemycomputer.com and found a lot of pretty pictures. Most look like scans from magazines, so I don't know how "legit" they might appear to some in the icon community, but considering screencaps and promo-posters are all over the place, I don't think anyone can yell at me too much for these. Quite a few of these I will be customizing with text and whatnot, so if you have a request, just leave a comment and I'll see what I can do.

These icons are free for anyone to download, customize and use. No credit needed, but highly appreciated. Many of these have been edited from the original picture to make them more ideal for icon usage.

New Icon I just made, will be posting some others soon. Since I don't have photoshop anymore, trying out GIMP (they finally have a windows installer for those of us who don't understand how to install binaries and whatnot).



The base is from bases_by_maggie, Lyrics "Fields of Gold" which is by I think by Eva Cassidy (made popular by Sting), created in GIMP.

This one is based off of the Queen of Cups card from the Aquatic Tarot by artist Pamela Colman Smith.

My personal opinion is that this is my signifier card, though others might view it differently.

Been playing around with my default icon, but just can't seem to get it to look how I want. Would like an old sepia/film/torn paper type border, but everything I try just looks like crap. So far this is the best I've been able to come up with (exclusion on the border layer, using a scrubby brush on my eraser tool to make it more spotty).

I am beginning to like the 'fade to white' borders on some of my newer icons. Just uses the linear dodge on the border layer.

Going back through some of my older icons and updating them with my better techniques.

speaking of which.. i really need to get off my ass and make a custom mood theme. I'm sick of these cats.

As for my 'house cleaning' of the journal.. when I got to the post when we got river I had come full circle and now I think all my entries are tagged (cept for a few I left untagged as they were personal notes to people on my friends list and nothing important).

I have to snuggle with river now... reading that post brings back all those memories of that tiny puppy. She's gonna be THREE.. can you believe it's been that long?

BTW, yes, the words in the first two are supposed to be illegable... because, just as it's sung in the opening theme, the words are backwards! Muhahhahha *coughs*

Ever wanted to know what you had to do  to make your website have a favicon?

Little digging and find out you just need to add the following to your HTML page header:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico">

This gives me some great ideas on how to make blending layers for many of my icons!

I was checking my email and noticed I had a gift waiting for me on SecondLife, so I quickly hopped over to check what it was.

In second life, you can join multiple groups, that are kinda like guilds but you're not bound to just one. Many of the fashon designers have "Update Groups" to let their fans know when something new comes out. A few.. also give free gifts.

Material Squirrel is probably the best designer of Wings. Yep, that's right.. scripted wings that flap and open and close and everything. I really like their stuff, but so far they just didn't have the right wings that I was wanting. I like dressing up with wings for Quu since he loves them so much, and I wanted to put together a really nice outfit so that I could give him a few pics and enjoy. But.. never really saw what I wanted. That is.. until now.

Last night for Halloween they sent out a free pair of their new "Reaper Wings" and OMG they are EXACTLY what I've been looking for.

What are Loyalty Userpics? How do I get more?

Loyalty Userpics are extra userpics awarded to users as a reward for their paid account history with the site. Starting on 15 March 2006, you will recieve one userpic for every three months of paid time you (or another person) purchase for your account. You will also receive one bonus userpic for every continuous 12 months of paid time applied to your account. These extra userpics are in addition to the minimum number of userpics allotted to your account.

• Users who held paid accounts when this feature was launched (15 March 2006) will receive one userpic for every three months of paid time their account has held.


• Formerly-paid users who renew their accounts before 14 April 2006 will receive one userpic for every three months of paid time they've held in the past, along with the number of userpics they receive upon renewing.


• Permanent account holders will always have the maximum amount of Loyalty Userpics offered to date; currently, this is 32 userpics (for a total of 132 userpics
