Safe and sound

Lonely, Flirt
Well, made it to my sister's perfectly well. Was a beautiful easy drive down from Mendon, MI. The route jogged about 3 times, maybe 4, but was extremely easy to follow. Near straight shot. And so beautiful! The ONE spot I wanted to pull over and get pictures was a dangerous hill with a curve so I had to pass it up. Nearly stopped in LaGrange, IN but there was traffic and construction. The drive over to Portage, IN, on friday morning will probably have better time to stop if I want.

Right now sitting in my sister's living room relaxing before kicking her out of my 'room' (read: living room). Was a GREAT evening. Helped Kyle clean up his room. Played in the MUD with Alaina for a LONG time. (Yes, real mud. That dirt/clay stuff from mud-puddles.) Had Goulosh for supper before watching Phantom Menace with the kids. Had a tickle fight playtime with Kyle when I put him to bed. Trying to teach him to 'fight back' rather than just sit there and take it.

After everyone was settled down I drove to Kroger to pick up a few things I'm gonna need for the rest of the trip: like a cooler for the cheese, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Yes, I've been up here so long I've gone through the shampoo and conditoner I bought when I got up here.

The cooler I picked up is actually a mini backpack. Its even pink ribbon stock with breast cancer foundation donations. Couldn't find one of those reusable ice packs to put in it. Will look later.

The TomTom gps is working out great. Just wish I had a better holder for it. Might get Craig to look at the extra back that came with the arm and see if we can get it to work with the back that the tomtom came with. The attachment arm's supports block the power outlet and also presses the power switch. Might also see if there is somewhere else in the car I can attach it to than the windshield. Wish I could have found a clamp. In any case, love the tomtom. Not minding the inability to auto browse the map like I thought I would. It is much different using it while driving vs demoing in the store. Its been really accurate so far. Even my mph!

Anyway, very tired. Feel bad that I forgot to call piperchicky and tell them I made it ok. Hopefully she'll see this, if not I'll call tomorrow.

Night all!

Good to hear Ya Safe
It is good to hear you made it to your sister's home safely. I am also glad the TomTom seems to be working out for you:) Keep in mind if you and Pat go on any trips overseas you can load in other countries also:)I mention this since Kip seemed unaware of that feature and it will help with his trip to Japan. I think they are also picking up the translator converter package for the PSP to take with them as well.

Re: Good to hear Ya Safe
I doubt we'll be going anywhere overseas any time soon. I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep it or return it. The new iPhones have GPS built in. Mostly waiting to make that call till after the trip is over.

You probably want to look for one of these - some sort of "friction dash mount":

Best Buy has them in stock, too, for a lot more money. But you can get it quick if you're on the road this way.

That the sandbag thing? I saw it at walmart and it just didn't look secure to me. Also, my dashboard is sloped so it kinda won't stay put. The two main alternatives i've seen have been the one that camps to a fan vent or one that actually camps to the side of the middle console. Saw a cup holder one, but I've been using all of mine.

Gah. gotta run. kid alert.

I saw that exact product at Best Buy monday. I don't know if I trust such a thing all that much. It certainly won't do anything in the case of an accident.
